Release the Magic Game Jam here we go!


We just finished with week one for this project for the game jam. A week consisting of four days, but a week nonetheless. We have another 4 weeks left this month, oh dear.

This week we have established the main idea for the project, the general character movement and their own special quirks, a basic enemy, several platforms all with different behaviours: static, moving, rotating, falling... And health and love meters to be able to tell what's going on when the player does something, anything really.

It's basically a prototype so far and if you had asked me personally a week ago I would have said "No way am I gonna release a game before it's done. What am I supposed to showcase? Stick figurines and broken gameplay?" But I also realized, that this could also be a great way to see how far we can go in the jam period, with timestamps and all. Once the jam is done, we could look all the way to the first release and feel accomplished with the project, raising our little child with tears until it's ready to leave the nest.

So here we are. I will add another devlog once the next week is over, and see what we have then. Maybe something interesting, maybe a lot of bugs, who knows. Isn't it exciting in its own way?
