Third week of the jam, third devlog!

Ah, the third week is over. Well damn, time passes quickly when assembling stuff together to make it resemble some sort of game, and failing at it.

This week we bring a "better" version of the previous builds. There's more stuff, but is it really better when it's still a prototype?

I have remembered to add all sorts of enemies, obstacles and projectiles to the build. I'm pretty sure I haven't forgotten anything this time. It has the same as the previous build, plus the falling enemy that I forgot to add last time. There's a new enemy that shoots different types of projectiles: we have a basic horizontal projectile, one that moves in an arc, and another that comes back (just like non real life boomerangs). The enemy itself doesn't move, but it can be combined with the others to make an even more deadlier version!

Now for the first time, each magical girl has their own attack, the bunny girl keeps using the same old, the cat has a quick whip like attack, and the axolotl shoots projectiles, the basic horizontal kind.

There is a basic checkpoint system added, when reaching certain points, when the party of magical girls get defeated, well, it's about time they could restart from there. But it's very basic and I didn't add it to the build this week. I know what I said earlier, but it was on purpose. The system is so basic that I didn't feel like showcasing it yet. I promise it will be added once we play a bit more with saved data and it feels more complete.

The biggest change in the development is the cutscenes. There's a visual novel system to showcase who is speaking and saying what, which can move the camera, panning it some other place in a room, shaking it to give some excitement, and basically that's it. It's also a bit basic, but it's a definite start.

Last but not least, we have a city parallax in the build... Unfortunately, Izzy (the main and basically sole artist) has had a very rough few weeks, and it doesn't seem to end yet. It will probably take a long while to resolve itself. So I have to sadly announce that you won't get to see much in terms of the art department for the duration of the jam. Yay, more placeholder art! Isn't it pretty to look at? (No)

Before finishing, I have to mention there's a bug with some rooms, when trying to access another room, sometimes (for the life of who knows) it skips that room and moves to the following one. I have no clue why that happens, but I will try to hunt it down!

Thank you for reading and until next week, see ya!
