The fourth week has come!


I have to say this is going to be short, sorry in advance.

This week we have very little content to showcase. We could divide the week in two parts, the first one I dealt with the skipping room issue, so that's fixed, and then I went on designing how to do animations for the cutscene and dialogue system. But it stayed on paper as I never decided on how to implement it. And the second part of the week can be summarized on having too many other things to do. I had time today, but I couldn't get much done. That's for the coding, you already know how our artist is faring.

For the other half of the team, there are two more members working on designs and story. So it's not something we could add yet. Those will have to wait.

To avoid ending right here I could talk about some of our plans for the game. We want to do some sort of metroidvania in the sense of having to revisit rooms after acquiring new members to be able to access new areas that couldn't be visited before. The player will start as one character and move through stages to find more team members to join and save the world from an alien invasion, as more team members join, the powerful their abilities will be with their love combined.

We also want to make having to switch characters a constant, be it not only for moving through the levels, but also as enemies will be immune to certain attacks, and then there will also be boss fights. In these the player will have to switch the characters to be able to reach the weak spots of these types of enemies, having to move through the room as necessary and then give the enemy a good smack for poor behaviour with their love filled attacks.

Speaking of which, there's a hint that there will be special attacks, as right now they only consume love and make the character pass through several colours as a placeholder. Basically, they do nothing. But we have planned for each character to have a signature move to help in combat. They are still in the design process so I can't speak much about them.
